What is it?
We are a network of world travelers who feel the friendships we form on our journey are as important as the journey itself. While this often means tirelessly trying to reunite with friends all over the globe, it often results in frustration and missed connections. Why? Because travelers travel. Backpackers Union solves this by creating a global map directory of all your travel friends that’s smart and safe, so you can effortlessly reconnect with the people who are important to you, while you focus on exploring the world.

How we got here?
In 2009 at 4am on Koh San Road in Thailand, I was sitting alone in an internet cafe staring at my Gmail account with several email addresses scribbled on a napkin in front of me. I just had an epic night out with two girls from the US volley ball team and four crazy guys from England, and we had all enthusiastically promised to meet up somewhere in Southern Thailand. However, I had played this game before; “Hey, where are you now?”. By the time they’d get the message, I didn’t even know where I’d be. I knew there had be a better way. There was.

From a studio apartment in Boston, Massachusetts, I set up a makeshift office on a kitchen table and I scratched, kicked, and screamed Backpackers Union to where it is today; A fast and simple way to reconnect with anyone, from anywhere in the world, including two girls from the US volleyball team and four crazy English guys.

Why join?
